Fitness at a Glance

The YMCA strives to provide safe and comprehensive fitness, wellness and recreation programs.  Anyone under a physician’s care should advise their instructor of their specific circumstance and get their physician’s written approval to participate in “Y” programs. Fitness classes are open to all members 14 years and older.

BATH CARDIO KICKBOXING

New Location: Steuben Bowl Tues/Thursday nights 5:30-6:30 Sat. mornings 8:30-9:30 Come join the adventure with Jenn Saltsman leading the way through one tough work out. Punch and Kick your daily stress away and feel energized, then cool down with a steely ab workout and flexibility stretching.

BODY FUSION

High intensity/low impact workout. This is not just a STEP  class, by incorporating the use of body bars. Medicine balls, resist-a-balls, STEPS and more, you will never know what you are in for but your body will love you for it. Come on—Get GOING!

CARDIO KICKBOXING

This energy packed class of martial arts techniques; combinations packed with punches, kicks and blocks provides the participant with one hour of continuous activity. Great class to relieve stress and energize your system. Gloves recommended.

COMBO CARDIO

New at the “Y,” this fun, change of pace class will keep you going. The class combines cardio and strength for an easy-to-follow workout. Adults, teens and tweens catch the fitness bug using a step,  resistance balls, medicine balls, resistance tubing, and more.

CORE POLE EXPRESS

In a hurry and need a quick workout? Join us for a half hour of cardio and resistance training using the CORE POLE, then you can get on with your busy schedule! Way to GO!

JAZZERCISE

Includes a complete warm-up, 30 minutes of cardiovascular dancing, an intense muscle building floor segment with weights for all major areas , and a final stretch. Cool!

KBX

Add this class to your training/fitness regimen and you’ll get hooked on the results! This class is like no other. Loaded w/boxing, light sparring, self defense, endurance, strength, resistance, some cardio and yean, discipline...Lots of discipline!  Looking to mix it up? Take on a challenge? Do you know how many different muscles you have? YOU WILL!

CIRCUIT

START HERE! If you are just beginning to exercise again. Use this class to build knowledge and confidence, then venture the fitness center on your own after just 8 weeks. Under the Supervision of a Certified Instructor, participants will be led through the entire Nautilus Circuit.

NOON EXPRESS and ABS

Take a break from work and workout. Depending on the day you attend the class will include cardio and strength training or a complete Ab workout. So mix and match or come everyday this class will reduce the wiggle in your giggle.

NOON YOGA

For all around good health and stress management ~ Yoga helps you develop a high energy lifestyle, maintain your physical fitness, and expand your overall flexibility and strength. Yoga is the perfect stress management program. Learn how to relax both physically and mentally, sleep better, suffer less anxiety, experience rapid recovery from stress, and lower your blood pressure.

RESISTANCE

Plain and simple! This class will improve your muscle strength, endurance, bone density and increase metabolism, while sculpting your body. Whether you are looking for rock hard abs, or just less jiggle in your wiggle, give this class a try.

HYPERFITNESS

NEW this session to keep you motivated with a completely unique, dynamic workout regimen. The goal is simple: to engage as many muscle groups as you possibly can. Push your body to reach new heights and get in the best shape ever.  But don’t be afraid to join us because any level can do it!

STRETCH and YOGA

Need to relax– try unwinding with stretching and breathing exercises to improve general health and reduce stress. Petra will help you ease your  body and your mind.  Now BREATH!

STUDIO CYCLING

Cycling is offered to Full Members ONLY!

An indoor group cycling class which is as challenging as you make it.  By adjusting the tension level on the bikes, you will be able to experience a workout similar to outdoor cycling.  Get motivated by the members and instructor. Imagine the hill climb.

CYCLING Drop-in Procedure: 

Full Facility Members are able to fill a vacant bike in any class during one session for a fee of  $8.  You may purchase a drop-in card at the Courtesy Desk and then show it to the Cycling Instructor. Remember that those Full Facility Members who are registered for the class get first choice of the bikes!

YOGA

Yoga, the most recommended class by area physicians to help lower your blood pressure and establish well-being. Promoting overall flexibility, strength. and connecting physically and mentally. Become Centered.

YOGA for KIDS: GRADES 1-5

A yoga class structured for the younger member. Youth Yoga will ensure flexibility, promote proper breathing techniques and aid in emotion control. If your child sweats the small stuff, see how yoga can help.

YOGA for TWEENS: GRADES 6-8

New at the “Y,” a yoga class for the stressed middle-school student– we know how hard it can be: setting behind a desk all day, worrying about test, lockers and recess– so try unwinding with Jami. Learn new poses and techniques to help with life’s little bumps.

ZUMBA

Cardio and strength together in one class. Linda will lead you through an upbeat and fast paced dance routine for 40 minutes, and if you choose to stay - 20 minutes of Rep Reebok- mixing rhythms, upper and lower body exercises, and finishing with abs and a cool down stretch. Get in touch with your WILD SIDE!

 

Martial Arts

JR. JUDO AGES 7-12 (Yonen)

TEEN JUDO AGES 13-16(Shonen)

WINTER SESSION: Jan 9 - May 8

Aren’t really sure if Judo is for you? Come try our newly arranged classes (according to age, followed by grouping of skills,) The Centurion Club instructors, ranging Green Belt to Black Belt, provide positive role models who emphasize self-esteem, and confidence. Participants develop physical and mental strength, ability, and flexibility.  Teaching the concepts and practices of Judo including the formalities, language, and history of this Olympic sport.

SENIOR JUDO

WINTER SESSION: Jan 4 - May 5

Judo is an Olympic sport with grappling similar to wrestling but with unique throwing techniques making it an effective method of exercise, conditioning and  self defense, where a smaller person uses the opponents own strength against them. Judo is a philosophy that fosters moral and ethical values and stresses the mastering of one’s self-discipline and development of physical and mental strength, ability and flexibility. Students will learn about Judo history, language and Kodokan style techniques. Beginners may wear a long sleeve sturdy sweatshirt and sweatpants. Beginners may join the upper ranked students in advanced workouts as they become qualified. When joining the upper ranks a Judogi (uniform) must be purchased. The Centurion Judo club which instructs the YMCA members is chartered by the United States Judo Association. When students have achieved a rank or plan on competing registration with the USJA is encouraged and required.

TAI JI QUAN - YANG STYLE “TAI CHI”

Tai ji I  Winter: January 4 – March 18

Traditional Chinese exercise for health, strength, flexibility and well-being. A soft martial art that incorporates meditation into graceful movement, while developing internal energy and cleansing the body, mind, and spirit.

Advanced Practice: 7:30 pm - 8:00 pm.

Tai ji II— Spring: March 23 - May 27

Tues only 6:30-8:30 pm

Over the 10 week session, students will learn and practice Li Ying-ang’s 75-posture sequence of movements. Additionally, deep breathing techniques, flexibility exercises and meditation will cultivate qi (ch’i).
